Following the formal adoption of all specific programme decisions by the Council of Ministers on 25 January 1999, the corresponding work programmes and several calls for proposals have been - or are presently in the process of being - adopted and published. The dates of publication of the first calls for proposals in the Official Journal are given below, subject to the positive outcome of the relevant Commission procedures: - Quality of life and management of living resources - 6.3.1999; - User-friendly information society - n/a (scheduled for third week in March) - Competitive and sustainable growth - 16.3.1999; - Energy, environment and sustainable development: - - Environment - 20.3.1999; - - Energy - 20.3.1999; - Nuclear energy - 20.3.1999; - Confirming the international role of Community research - 23.3.1999; - Promotion of innovation and encouragement of SME participation - 23.3.1999; - Improving the human research potential and the socio-economic knowledge base - 16.3.1999. The information packages for potential proposers, for each of the programmes, will be available on CORDIS on the date of the respective calls. It should be noted that not all areas of the above programmes will be covered by the first calls. However, the work programmes also contain information on the indicative dates and areas for further calls.
