The resulting services will become part of the catalogue of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) initiative funded by the EU. © Trust-IT Services The ARCHIVER project - Archiving and Preservation for Research Environments - will introduce radical improvements in the area of archiving and digital preservation services, supporting the IT requirements of European scientists and providing end-to-end archival and preservation services for data generated in the context of scientific research projects. The project is managed by a consortium of procurer research organisations (CERN, DESY, EMBL-EBI and PIC) and experts (Addestino and Trust-IT) and receives funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme. With a total procurement budget of EUR 3.4 million, the project will use a Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) approach to competitively procure R&D services from firms in three stages covering design, prototyping and pilot, over the next 3 years (Jan 2019 - Dec 2021). The resulting services will become part of the catalogue of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) initiative funded by the EU (https://www.eosc-portal.eu/). As announced in the corresponding Prior Information Notice published in the OJEU, an Open Market Consultation (OMC) will be organised before the publication of the Request for Tender. This OMC is an evolutionary process aiming at improving the mutual understanding of the R&D challenges across procurer organisations and industry in the domain of Archiving and Digital Preservation. Several events will take place between April and June 2019 as part of this process, during which potential bidders will assess the innovation potential required to address the Buyers Group use-cases. The events will be moderated by a partner of the ARCHIVER consortium (Addestino) using a planning poker technique in order to estimate effort, value and risk. The results obtained on the OMC events will serve as a base of the Tender specifications to be published in October 2019.
