The European Commission has published a call for proposals for the evaluation of the Community action programme for the vocational training of young people and their preparation for adult working life (PETRA). The Commission requires the assistance of an organization to carry out the second and final external evaluation of the PETRA programme. The evaluation is intended to examine the process, performance and results of the transnational measures of the programme in all Member States of the European Community with a view to drawing conclusions and to formulating recommendations concerning the effect of the programme on initial vocational training in the European Community, in order to assist the Commission in the further development of activities in the framework of the LEONARDO DA VINCI programme to be implemented in the period 1995-1999. The evaluation is intended to provide information on: - The extent to which the programme has been successful in promoting innovative practices in the area of initial vocational training; - The extent to which the different results of the transnational measures have been able to contribute to the development of initial vocational training policies in the Member States, and on the conditions under which this contribution can be maximized; - The extent to which the programme has promoted and effectively developed a European dimension in initial vocational training in the EU.
