The EEA Joint Committee has adopted a Decision to extend cooperation, under the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA), to include the third Community action programme to assist disabled people (HELIOS II, 1993-1996). The countries of the European Free Trade Area (EFTA) shall, during 1995 and 1996, participate in Community actions to assist disabled people. No direct contribution to the budget of the EC will be made in 1995 but EFTA States will pay all their own costs relating to participation. In 1996, the EFTA countries will contribute fully to the overall budget. The agreement will cover participation, by the EFTA States in the HANDYNET system: a computerized documentation and information system for the disabled and their professional helpers, also intended to stimulate research into and production of technical aids via an inventory of applied research.
