Spectroscopy of COMPASS Tokamak

Objective

This project consists in establishing direct access, from the University College of Cork, to the Spectroscopic data of the COMPASS Tokamak at UKAEA - Culham. The Computer Packet Switching Network will be used to transfer data between Culham and Cork.

This will enable data to be processed and interpreted on a routine basis, and the role of impurities in the COMPASS Tokamak to be assessed. This will allow both staff and students of the Department of Experimental Physics, University College of Cork, to participate fully in the project.

The spectroscopic data mentioned above will be delivered by the following diagnostics on COMPASS:

a) X-ray Spectroscopy (1-23A)
b) XUV and VUV Spectroscopy
c) Visible spectroscopy
