Filter-less air pollution abatement system able to clean a wide range of pollutants at ground level for a healthier workplace and more sustainable environment.

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - APA (Filter-less air pollution abatement system able to clean a wide range of pollutants at ground level for ahealthier workplace and more sustainable environment.)

Reporting period: 2015-05-01 to 2015-10-31

Air pollution created through industrial process emissions is causing unhealthy workplaces and living environments, a serious health issue, in particular for employers. APA innovation business project aims at commercializing a unique solution to complement existing filtering technology, solving the problem of workplace’s pollution inside and outside industrial sites for the benefit of occupational and environemntal safety. APA cleans air within a radius of 25m and is a scalable system that can be customised for different application, either working alone or in a network. Pollutants removed from the air include: particulate matter; heavy metals; hydrocarbons; pollen; spores; NOx; SOx; CO₂. APA is unique in that it can be positioned both in working environments and on the discharge points of industrial processing machines, this means workers benefit from a more direct impact of the air purification gaining a healthier working environment.
ISTECH has achieved the business and technical feasibility objectives defined in the PH1 proposal, by identifying profiles of key stakeholders and securing the key partners to be involved for a successful commercialisation. One more industrial site where to test APA performance towards different pollutants has been secured. Furthermore ISTECH has conducted a comprehensive analysis of customers, segmenting the different manufacturing sectors and identifying the first ones to be addressed; identified the competition, the entry barriers and proper counter actions, and prepared the IP and marketing strategy and 5 years financial projection; defined the minimum viable product; established the engineering and the industrialization plans. During the Feasibility Study, ISTECH has interviewed the end-users, owners and workers of manufacturing industries, acquiring feedback on their requirements, such as type and concentration of pollutants, and most suitable location for the machines. The Feasibility Study showed that APA raised the interest of customers and ISTECH will have a rapid market penetration and within first year will reach the BEP. This is mainly due to the innovative features offered to the end-users and to the established commercial partnership with an important Italian service provider that is willing to offer APA to its industrial clients.
The expected outcome of the project is a smart pollution abatement system that has been tested on long-term pilot in the operational environment of the manufacturing industries with different types of pollutants. The system will have the capacity to clean the air of industrial sites solving the problem of workplace’s pollution and thereby contributing to maintain the environmental condition in the workplace in line with the health requirement and with the legislation on occupational safety.
