Discussions on proposals for the EU's next research framework programme will continue at the Research Council in Luxembourg on 26 June. The Council, chaired by Sweden's Minister for Education and Science, Thomas Östros, will also adopt a resolution on the continued work on 'science and society' and 'women in science' The Commission will also provide information about the progress on the action plan for issues connected with biotechnology, issues which cover research, industrial development and the ethical aspects of biotechnology. The European Council gave the Commission the task of producing such an action plan at the Stockholm summit in March.decl
