In the framework of the PHARE programme, the European Commission's Task Force for Human Resources, Education, Training and Youth has published the 1992/1993 Annual Report for the TEMPUS programme. TEMPUS is a trans-European cooperation scheme for higher education between the European Community and the new independent States of the former Soviet Union. The report, for the period 1 August 1992 to 31 July 1993, covers the following: - Historical background of TEMPUS; - Education and society: Review of the issues in Central and Eastern Europe as revealed by the first three years of the TEMPUS scheme; - Record of development and achievement in the academic year 1992/1993; - Outcomes: Measuring the impact of TEMPUS; - Preparations for TEMPUS II. A list of TEMPUS publications and statistical tables for each country are provided in the annexes.
