The following is a summary of current (closing date later than 15 April 1996) and ongoing calls for proposals issued under the Community's Fourth Framework Programme for research and technological development (RTD) and the Euratom Framework Programme: EC FOURTH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME - Specific RTD programme in the area of telematic applications of common interest (1994-1998): . Rolling call for proposals for support actions under the Telematics Applications programme (OJ No C 240 of 15.9.1995 p. 11) (RCN 5549/4843). Proposals may be submitted at any time until the final closing date of 15 June 1998 (17.00); - Specific RTD programme in the field of non-nuclear energy (JOULE/THERMIE) (1994-1998): . Call for proposals for RTD projects in the field of non-nuclear energy (OJ No C 11 of 16.1.1996 p. 14) (RCN 5405). The deadline for the submission of proposals is 14 May 1996 (16.00); . First call for proposals for RTD and demonstration projects in the field of non-nuclear energy (OJ No C 357 of 15.12.1994) (RCN 3454). Proposals related to all areas of the programme, with the exception of RTD projects in the area of energy research, development, demonstration and dissemination strategy (Area 1) are subject to a call continuously open until 17 December 1997 (12.00). Proposals for an exploratory award, aimed at submission of a subsequent project may be submitted at any time until 13 September 1996 (12.00) for a demonstration action, and until 11 June 1997 (12.00) for a cooperative research action; - Specific RTD programme in the field of agriculture and fisheries (FAIR) (1994-1998): . Call for proposals for exploratory awards, cooperative research projects and research training and mobility grants (OJ No C 357 of 15.12.1994) (RCN 3453). Proposals, from SMEs, for exploratory awards or cooperative research projects are subject to a continuously open call and can be submitted at any time up until the final dates specified hereafter: . Proposals for an exploratory award, with a view to submitting, at stage 2, a complete proposal for an RTD project: 12 June 1996 (12:00); . Proposals for an exploratory award, with a view to submitting, at stage 2, a cooperative research project: 11 June 1997 (12:00); . Proposals for a cooperative research project (stage 2): 17 December 1997 (12:00); Applications for training and mobility grants are also subject to an open call and may be submitted within the framework of two selection deadlines per year. The forthcoming deadlines in this area are: 15 June 1996, 15 December 1996, 15 June 1997, 15 December 1997; - Specific RTD programme in the field of environment and climate (1994-1998): . Call for proposals for advanced study courses and research training grants (OJ No C 337 of 15.12.95) (RCN 5291). There will be two selection rounds yearly from 1996 to 1998, one in the spring and one in the autumn, for the allocation of research training grants. The next deadline for the receipt of applications will be 20 August 1996 (17.00); . Call for proposals for shared-cost and concerted actions (OJ No C 148 of 15.6.1995 p. 11) (RCN 4358). The deadline for the receipt of proposals for an exploratory award is 12 June 1996. The deadline for the receipt of proposals for a cooperative research project is 27 March 1997; . First call for proposals (OJ No C 12 of 17.01.1995) (RCN 3567). Forthcoming closing dates under this call are as follows: . Proposals for an exploratory award, with a view to submitting, at a later stage, a complete proposal for an RTD project or a cooperative research project: 12 June 1996 (12.00); . Proposals for a cooperative research project: 27 March 1997 (12.00); - Specific programme for the dissemination and exploitation of the results of activities in the field of research, technological development and demonstration (INNOVATION) (1994-1998): . Ongoing call for proposals in the area of European networks and services (OJ No C 337 of 15.12.1995) (RCN 5290). The next deadline for the receipt of proposals is 13 September 1996 (17.00); - Specific RTD programme in the field of information technologies (ESPRIT) (1994-1998): . Call for proposals of 15 June 1995 (OJ No C 148 of 15.06.1995 p.39) (RCN 4357/5289). Proposals for IT Project Traineeships may be submitted at any time up to 15 May 1996; . Call for proposals of 15 December 1994 (OJ No C 357 of 15.12.1994 p. 9) (RCN 3446/5289). Proposals for open LTR projects (task 4.1) technology transfer and support actions, and SME exploratory awards, may be submitted at any time up to 15 May 1996; - Specific RTD programme in the field of cooperation with third countries and international organizations, (INCO) (1994-1998): . First call for proposals (OJ No C 38 of 15.2.1995 p. 10.) (RCN 3699). This open call for proposals concerns all INCO fellowships and grants for the duration of the programme. Applications should be submitted before 1 March of each year (17.00) (or the first working day thereafter if 1 March is a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday) until 1 March 1998. Submissions will be assessed in June of the same year; - Specific RTD programme in the field of biotechnology (BIOTECH II) (1994-1998): . Call for proposals for RTD actions (OJ No C 337 of 15.12.1995) (RCN 5304). Proposals for training actions through research may be submitted at any time within the 1995-1998 period. Forthcoming intermediary submission deadlines are: 1 July 1996; 1 November 1996; 1 March 1997; 1 July 1997; 1 November 1997; 1 March 1998; 1 July 1998; . Call for proposals of 15 September 1995 (OJ No C 240 of 15.9.1995 p. 9.) (RCN 4841). Proposals for shared-cost preparatory awards in view of the participation of SMEs in RTD projects can be submitted continually until 31 December 1996 (12.00). This applies to all areas of the biotechnology work programme; - Specific RTD programme in the field of industrial and materials technologies (BRITE-EURAM III) (1994-1998): . Call for proposals of 15 December 1995 (OJ No C 337 of 15.12.1995) (RCN 5303). The deadline for the submission of proposals for RTD projects is 17 April 1996 (12.00). The deadline for the submission of proposals for preparatory, accompanying and support measures, subject to a permanent open call, is 20 May 1998 (12.00); . Call for proposals for thematic networks and technology stimulation activities to encourage and facilitate participation of small and medium-sized enterprises (OJ No C 357 of 15.12.1994) (RCN 3447). Proposals may be submitted until: . 12 June 1996 (12.00) for proposals for an exploratory award, with a view to submitting, at stage two, a complete proposal for an RTD project (industrial research); . 11 June 1997 (12.00) for proposals for an exploratory award, with a view to submitting, at stage two, a cooperative research project; . 17 December 1997 (12.00) for proposals for cooperative research projects (stage 2) and thematic networks; - Specific RTD programme in the field of marine science and technology (MAST III) (1994-1998): . Proposals for exploratory awards or cooperative research projects are subject to a continuously open call and can be submitted up to the final dates specified hereafter: . Proposals for a cooperative research project (stage 2): 17 December 1997 (12.00); - Specific RTD programme in the field of standards, measurement and testing (SMT) (1994-1998): . Call for proposals of 15 June 1995 (OJ No C 148 of 15.6.1995 p. 6) (RCN 4361). The deadline for the receipt of proposals for preparatory, accompanying and support measures under this call is 30 July 1998; . Call for proposals of 15 December 1994 (OJ No C 357 of 15.12.1994) (RCN 3448). Proposals for exploratory awards or cooperative research projects are subject to a continuously open call and can be submitted up to the final dates specified hereafter: . Proposals for an exploratory award, with a view to submitting, at stage 2, a complete proposal for an RTD project (industrial research): 12 June 1996 (12.00); . Proposals for an exploratory award, with a view to submitting, at stage 2, a cooperative research project: 11 June 1997 (12.00); . Proposals for a cooperative research project (stage 2): 17 December 1997 at 12.00; Proposals for thematic networks for the coordination of research carried out by industry, universities and research centres in a particular field of measurement, analysis or testing, covered by Themes I, II or III of the work programme, are also subject to a call continuously open until 17 December 1997 (12.00); - Specific RTD programme in the field of biomedicine and health (BIOMED II) (1994-1998): . Call for proposals of 17 January 1995 (OJ No C 12 of 17.1.1995 p. 19) (RCN 3564). Applications for research fellowships can be submitted at any time within the 1995-1998 period with the following intermediary submission deadlines: . 31 December 1996 for Areas 4 (research on diseases with major social economic impact), 6 (public health research, including health services research), 7 (biomedical ethics) and 8 (ethical, legal and social aspects and demonstration); . 31 December 1997 for all areas; EURATOM FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME - Specific research and training programme in the field of nuclear safety and safeguards (NFS II) (1994-1998): . Call for proposals of 17 January 1995 (OJ No C 12 of 17.1.1995 p. 24) (RCN 3561). Proposals for concerted actions and thematic networks for the areas covered by the programme are subject to a call continuously open until 1 November 1997 (12.00); A number of calls for expressions of interest have also been launched with a view to establishing a list of potential partners for future activities.
