In addition to the funding of research projects through shared-cost contracts, the ECLAIR (European Collaborative Linkage of Agriculture and Industry through Research) and FLAIR (Food-Linked Agriculture and Industrial Research) programmes of the European Community also awarded a number of research training grants to young scientists. The European Commission, DG XII, has recently published a directory of ECLAIR/FLAIR trainees providing an overview of the training activities funded under these two programmes. The directory gives details of 117 fellowships awarded under the ECLAIR/FLAIR programmes, presenting a summary of the research work undertaken by each.
