REMOTE TUTOR SUPPORTED LEARNING SYSTEM

Objective

To provide a structured framework within which participants studying information technology based subjects or CBT material can be supported by a central tutor facility.The technique used allows tutor & trainee to be in different places at the same time. This provides an economic way of supporting trainees in the workplace or at home.

MAIN DOMAIN OF INNOVATION:

Innovative pedagogical approaches/methodologies. Project ethos provides a mechanism for training people in the workplace without the need for tutor or trainee to travel.

TARGET GROUP(S):

Disadvantaged groups. People at work. People working in SMEs. Main source of funding has been horizon,hence initial emphasis on disabled people in workplace.Emphasis now to SME's.

OPERATING CONTEXT:

Raising qualifications. Competitiveness.

TECHNOLOGY:

Information and communication technologies. Uses direct connection between tutor & participant through modem link.

INVOLVEMENT WITH ENTERPRISES:

Training consortia. Training institute-enterprise cooperation.

Joint social partnership steering/advisory groups.
