DIVERSIFICATION ET REORGANISATION DES ACTIVITES PRODUCTIVES LIGES A L'ELEVAGE DANS LES ZONES DEFAVORISES

Objective

The present project aims at making a substantial contribution to the knowledge concerning the on-going evolution of the diversification oi activities and the restructuring of rural societies in 'problematic' rural spaces. Such a contribution will come through a) characterizing the changes relating to occupations, practices and competencies, both managerial and technical which are in demand by the rural actors; b) the denotation of the nature, methods and content of (advisory) messages and support provided to rural aclors, in order to develop and test useful tools; and, c) the development of a conceptual framework which will be utilised towards the education/training of advisers/change agents who will support the population in these zones. The project concerns marginal areas in which animal husbandry and the associated sectors contributed and still do so, a significant number of activities and provide the basis for the development of diversified activities.
Various methodological tools might be used, mainly models such as the ones illustrated in the 'Economie des conventions" which so far have not been used in relation to rural dwellers.
The ambition of the current project is to associate technicians, bio-scientists and social scientists in order to reveal the routes of the feasible and coherence in the light of the "conventionnalites' work.
There are three main stages to be taken during the project arc as follows: a) Comparative longitudinal analysis of changes of the rural occupations and employment in the 12 zones which are selected. b) Analytical exploration of all the aspects which relate to such a complex object of study which in turn will be taken as the leverage of the changes of the qualifications of persons and situations In such zones. A common methodological hypothesis will be then developed to understand the system of requalifications. The latter will become the object of the advisory messages as well as the object relating services and rural operators. Emphasis is intended to be given to three critical objects, i.e. agri-turism; milk production; and, animal feeding and space management. c) Elaboration and trial of tools (e.g. simulation artificial intelligence, corpus relating to advisory work and training) for use by the Services engaged in providing information, advice and training.
