Objective The objective of the project is to establish the most appropriate roll cooling conditions needed to combat the effects of roll surface deterioration, taking due account of the cyclic heating and cooling conditions as well as the mechanical properties of the roll itself. To deliver optimum performance of the mill this project sets out to determine how to best preserve the original roll surface from the perspective of the work roll cooling.
