Periodic Reporting for period 3 - SMARTER-SI (Smart Access to Manufacturing for Systems Integration) Reporting period: 2017-02-01 to 2018-01-31 Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project The objective of SMARTER-SI is to test a new concept for small lot production of Smart Systems that wecall the "Cooperative Foundry Model" (CFM).Six European Research and Technology Institutes (RTOs) joined efforts and formed SMARTER-SI to act as providers for• Building Blocks - these are validated components or functional units with high Technology Readiness Level (TRL) • Technologies for Smart Systems Integration (SSI)• A wide range of expertise and experience Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will get an easier access to manufacturing capabilities for Smart Systems by addressing one of the participating institutes. Each institute acts as access point and coordinates the contributions from the others in Smart Systems design, manufacturing and testing according to the CFM.As testbed for the cooperation eleven Application Experiments will be implemented from 2015 to 2018 as "first-user"-type action lines.
