The Commission's Biotechnology Coordination Committee (BCC) has prepared a stock taking report on the progress that has been made in implementing the actions of the April 1991 Commission communication to the Council of Ministers and the European Parliament entitled "Promoting the competitive environment for the industrial activities based on biotechnology within the Community". The BCC endorses the Commission's aim to promote a competitive environment for biotechnology within the Community while ensuring safety for man and the environment. To maintain the momentum of the actions, which are all well underway, the Commission intends to focus its efforts on a number of priorities which are outlined in the report. The report will be discussed at a Round Table meeting organised by the BCC on 22 October 1992 in Brussels.
