Recently published, the 1990-1991 Progress Report of the Radiation Protection Programme of the Commission of the European Communities summarizes the results of the first year of the 1990-1991 programme. This was the first period during which the radiation protection programme (the Euratom specific multiannual research and training programme in the field of radiation protection) was implemented through multinational, multipartner research projects. The reports which make up the publication are presented to reflect this new structure. Each includes an overview of the progress achieved in the group followed by individual results from each of the group members. During the period covered, the radiation protection programme funded 137 multipartner projects involving a total of 347 individual activities with an overall Community budget of ECU 21.2 million. It is considered that the experience with the new type of management has been extremely positive. It is also noteworthy that Sweden has been associated with the programme over this period, and that Swedish scientists have been integrated in several of the multinational projects.
