A resolution of the European Parliament (12 March 1992) calls for a stop to the production and consumption of CFCs from 31 December 1993. This is a tighter schedule than that set out in the June 1990 London amendment to the Montreal Protocol of 1987, which calls for a total phasing out of CFCs by the year 2000. A Commission proposal for a further amendment to the Protocol (COM(90) 589) provides for an 85% cut in CFC production and use by the end of 1993 and a total phasing out by the end of 1995. The full text of the resolution will be published in the Official Journal of the European Community.
