Exploitable results AIRMAN: consensus building on airline software The AIRMAN project brought together a group of mid-sized airlines and several leading software industry observers. The initiative aimed to stimulate airline software suppliers to actively address the growing need for independent software solutions, based on industry-standard products, able to support the migration of airline reservations systems from existing mainframes to client-server environments. A detailed report has been produced defining potential airline reservations solutions for a variety of typical airline types and legacy computing environments. The AIRMAN report embodies several achievements which together constitute a very useful reference work for the airline software industry. The consensus findings of a representative grouping of airlines and travel technology suppliers are presented, providing an objective and comprehensive analysis of the business and technical issues involved. Strategic issues relating to migration, and how they differ for individual airlines, are considered. Detailed technical information is also provided concerning particular interfaces and operating environments. Searching for OpenAIRE data...
