From Legacy Systems to Services in the Net

Final Activity Report Summary - LEG2NET (From Legacy Systems to Services in the Net)

LEG2NET established a partnership between industry and academia that, over four years, developed internationally recognised expertise on re-engineering of legacy applications and correct code generation from high-level specifications with the ability to target specific architectures and support an architecture-driven evolution of systems. Given the prominence that they have been acquiring in industry, service-oriented architectures in particular were targeted. LEG2NET made this expertise available to the wider IT community through postgraduate programmes of studies and industry-targeted training actions delivered at the University of Leicester, industrial dissemination days in Lisbon organised by ATX, and international conferences and summer schools.

Finally, the success of the partnership was reported in the press and recognised by UKTI which, through the British Embassy in Lisbon and the East Midlands Development Agency, assisted ATX in opening a subsidiary in the UK. The technical team of this subsidiary is located at the University of Leicester and employs one of the Marie-Curie fellows and two students who were trained through the courses promoted by LEG2NET.
