Validation of Integrated Telecommunication Architectures for the Long term

Exploitable results

VITAL is an integrated and validated first version of an Open Distributed Telecommunication Architecture (ODTA) that uses the Telecommunications Information Networking Architecture (TINA) as main input. The VITAL Project consists of three in a row trials that aim at validating the TINA ODTA by means of prototyping and it concludes the first phase of the project. During this first phase the project mainly focused on the definition and implementation of the basic, generic building blocks in the ODTA. In the second and third phase the project is focused on the design and the implementation of various applications following the TINA ODTA. The third trial, in which the current project is NTUA, is occupied with the development of chat Application following the TINA service Architecture and the continuation of the specifications of the fault management module initiated by Telefonica - a partner of the VITAL project. Chat Application A Chat application should manage a real time textual conversation between several participants. Fault Management architecture Fault Management is concerned with detection, localisation and correction of abnormal behaviour of the telecommunication network and its environment.
