Objectif The twinning project involves a joint effort in: Studying improvements to these techniques to facilitate transferring them to different environments maintaining their effectiveness. It is expected that mathematical techniques would be easier to transfer, because of their scientific support, than rules of thumb. Adapting the techniques for use in different countries by engineers familiar with different languages (English and Greek), and where different engineering conventions and traffic behaviour prevail. Differences between Britain and Greece provide a good example of this. The adaptation of traffic engineering techniques will require a detailed analysis to identify their context specific aspects, in particular those depending on local traffic rule and behaviour, and a study to determine whether the same functional form can be preserved in the adapted technique. If this is so, only a re-calibration of the modesl will be reequired. If new functional form is needed, perhaps because traffic in each country behaves in a different way altogether, then a more comprehensive set of experiments will be required.
