The INTERLACE city network partners (CA, UNGL, FLACMA (Third Party) and UCLG/NAN) will draft an EU and a CELAC city network impulse paper (D2.7) in consultation with urban experts, decision-makers and city network representatives. The papers will help city networks to optimise their activities and support more widespread restoration across member cities. Each draft paper will be validated with a workshop in its respective region.
INTERLACE city impulse papers, local language and EN (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)Six locally-tailored INTERLACE city impulse papers will outline a set of recommendations for improving local policy coherency in urban ecosystem restoration and rehabilitation and green space planning. Specifics may be included on ways to resolve bottlenecks in governance/policy and optimise interactions between urban planning instruments. While their form and focus may vary by city to cater to local needs, each will be validated through targeted meetings with local CNA stakeholders. Potential outcomes could include a roadmap for implementation of restorative NBS, suggestions on optimising an existing strategy, guidance for improving governance processes, or ideas to better account for trade-offs of restorative NBS benefit delivery in urban planning. The final impulse papers will reflect different scales in urban planning, including recommendations for short to medium-term policy developments.
Transversal city impulse paper (EN/ES) (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)Findings and lessons learned which are shared across INTERLACE cities and applicable globally will be extracted for a short transversal city impulse paper
Guidelines to create tailored NBS assessment systems beyond INTERLACE cities (EN/ES) (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)The guideline will help cities globally accomplish integrated and ecologically coherent urban planning, underlined with illustrative CELAC and EU examples of the fsuccessful application of the framework developed in Task 3.4,, lessons learned, and tips for success
Action Plan for future priority and joint activities of the regional and global City Network Accelerators (EN/ES) (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)An action plan will be drafted to outline future priority activities of the global and regional CNAs (T4.3) which will lay out how they can be continued beyond the project duration.
A distance-learning course for the next generation of actors involved in urban NBS planning, design, implementation and monitoring, building on project outputs. The course will target university students and be comprised of 6 bilingual (EN/ES) webinars and supporting documents, repurposed from project outcomes and - where necessary - redesigned for educational use. The technical functionality will be ready by M18, and pilot version by M32.
Overview of policy instruments and business cases for fostering restorative NBS (EN/ES) (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)NINA will summarise each city’s findings in task 3.5 in a guidance document, categorizing relevant types of policy instruments for private investment and illustrating these with business case examples.
CELAC repository of restorative NBS and guidance note (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)OPPLA will oversee integration of the Innovation Hub within the Oppla web-platform, thereby forming the “CELAC Nature-Based Solutions Repository” (equivalent to Oppla’s own “EU NBS Repository”), providing information and data (case studies, business cases, guidance etc.) relevant to the CELAC region.
City NBS Tool and guidance note (EN/ES) (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)The City NBS Tool will be featured on the Innovation Hub and provide an intuitive, user-led approach to accessing the outputs of the project in a format that focuses on helping cities ‘package-together’ solutions specific to their individual needs. Content will include case studies, tried-and-tested tools/methods and good practice guidelines relevant to different scales and contexts. The Tool will feature an easy-to-use graphic interface, suitable for non-NBS specialists from upstream and downstream sectors (i.e. beyond environment). It will be developed using open source software so that it can be updated and expanded beyond the life of the project, e.g. accommodating the outputs of other projects and the wider community of practice.
Categorized database of good practice tools for the design, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of restorative NBS including 10 factsheets for 10 selected tools (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)A categorized database of good practice models, tools, DST, methodologies, strategies, guidelines, standards and approaches to support the development of the NBS assessment systems and providing guidance for integrated and ecologically coherent urban planning processes. Ten approaches will be showcased on the Innovation Hub as short factsheets, highlighting their scope of application and examples of their EU and/or CELAC application.
Modified urban design tools, which integrate NBS-related information (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)With the support of UAB and WP5, YES and TEC will integrate restorative NBS related knowledge collected or generated, key inspiration tools to invite the use of NBS by non-experts (in Archdaily, Pinterest or alike), in an architecture design solution (NBS integrated as BIM objects for tools like Revit (TEC)) and in an urban planning tool (NBS performance indicators integrated in Unlimited Cities (YES with support from the 7 Billion Urbanists association)). These adapted tools will be made available to INTERLACE cities to be used in their respective assessment systems as well as published on the Innovation Hub (supported by OPPLA) and highlighted in the regional/global CNAs to encourage uptake by wider cities.A draft report on this deliverable will be prepared by M36, to be included in the periodic reporting.
A communication toolkit developed by OPPLA and CA will comprise a range of readymade resources for managing outreach and engagement The toolkit will be launched in Month 5 and updatedexpanded throughout the course of the project including INTERLACE brand materials logo and corporate design high quality videos animations and infographics a webinar programme sharing stateoftheart research and demonstrations of solutions developed under T43 and T53 guidance and policy notes responding to current and emerging issues an active social media campaign and educational materials for school children These resources will be available in Spanish and English as well as additional local languages of the INTERLACE cities as appropriate
Communication toolkit and guidance note (EN/ES) (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)This is the final version of the communication toolkit (D5.1), developed by OPPLA and CA, which will comprise a range of ready-made resources for managing outreach and engagement. The toolkit will be launched in Month 5 and updated/expanded throughout the course of the project, including: INTERLACE brand materials (logo and corporate design); high quality videos, animations and infographics; a webinar programme sharing state-of-the-art research and demonstrations of solutions (developed under T4.3 and T5.3); guidance and policy notes responding to current and emerging issues; an active social media campaign; and educational materials for school children. These resources will be available in Spanish and English, as well as additional local languages of the INTERLACE cities, as appropriate.
