Psychological network support to violence traumatized children: disasters, conflicts

Objective

The objectives of the project are to conceive, to carry out and to have the experience of a euro Mediterranean network for the consultation and help when intervening to give medico psychological help to children traumatized by violence during disasters or wars. In each country there already exists specialised teams for the early intervention and for the follow up of traumatized children. But in this area which is still underdeveloped, scientific knowledge and action doctrines are only at their beginnings. T he knowledge and experience acquired by the best experts in each country are not sufficiently made known outside the boarders. Also, the inside teams cannot respond to urgent needs when a major catastrophe occurs. The idea is to create a euro Mediterranean network linking the specialized teams of each nation in order to "confront the knowledge and the experience to improve scientific knowledge about psycho-traumatology of the child, "harmonised action doctrines in the fields in the three phases : immediate post immediate and the consequences "elaborate a common handbook for teaching and practice of medico-psychological support to traumatised children, "start up a country by country help system whereby in case of a major catastrophe, help can be requested fro m other countries to evaluate needs and to send reinforcement teams, "taking in account the differential cultural values, and emphasise gender and ethical issue. On a practical level, each of the nine countries within the network will have on a national sc ale a first network linking several intervention and child psycho-traumatology consultation centres. If possible, standardized computer technology will allow communication between several country simultaneously. Meetings and workshops will be organised wit hin the different countries as well as training seminars for personnel and symposiums to present the results.
