Youth for Europe III programme - submission of projects
Adopted in spring 1995, the Youth for Europe III programme aims to contribute to the further development of quality education through the promotion of a variety of activities aimed at young people (15-25 years) living in the 15 Member States of the European Union as well as in a number of non-member States. It covers a period of five years (1995-1999) and has been allocated a budget of ECU 24,376,800 for the first year. The programme operates outside school and university structures and co-finances activities in the following five areas: - Intra-Community exchanges directly involving young people: . Youth exchanges and mobility; . Spirit of initiative, creativity and solidarity among young people (including youth initiatives and periods of voluntary service); - Activities for youth leaders and educators (training, placements, seminars in other Member States); - Cooperation between State-run or non-governmental structures responsible for youth affairs within the Member States (practical placements, study visits, conferences, etc.); - Youth exchanges with third countries; - Information for young people and youth research. Special attention will be paid to ensuring that disadvantaged young people have access to activities run under the programme and to improving the quality of the projects undertaken for this group. The Commission has recently published a timetable for the submission of projects under this programme. The deadlines for submitting proposals are as follows: - For actions in the area of youth exchanges and mobility: . 1 May 1995 for activities taking place from 1.7.1995 to 31.12.1995; . 1 October 1995 for activities taking place from 1.1.1996 to 31.5.1996); - For actions involving youth initiatives (projects initiated and run by young people): . 1 June 1995 for activities taking place from 1.8.1995 to 31.7.1996; . 1 September 1995 for activities taking place from 1.11.1995 to 31.10.1996; - For actions involving periods of voluntary service abroad: . 15 June 1995 for activities taking place from 15.8.1995 to 14.8.1996; . 1 October 1995 for activities taking place from 1.12.1995 to 30.11.1996; - For exchanges with non-member countries: . 1 May 1995 for activities taking place from 1.7.1995 to 31.12.1995; . 1 July 1995 for activities taking place from 1.10.1995 to 31.12.1995; . 15 September 1995 for activities taking place from 1.1.1996 to 31.5.1996; - For proposals in all other areas of the programme, projects must be submitted two months before the start of activities up to 2 October 1995.
