Participation of Cyprus in Community education, training and youth programmes
The European Commission and the Cypriot authorities have reached agreement on participation by Cypriot entities in the EU's programmes in the fields of education, training and youth. The agreement has now to be concluded by both the Community and Cyprus. The agreement would allow Cypriot organizations to participate in the SOCRATES, LEONARDO DA VINCI and Youth for Europe programmes, in principle, on the same terms as organizations from the EU. The opening of these three programmes to Cypriot participation is a part of the pre-accession strategy. The Commission has also negotiated similar agreements with other applicant countries, which are in the process of conclusion by the Council and Parliament on behalf of the Community.
