The European Commission, DG XIII, has published a report outlining the results of the APAS exploratory RTD actions in the field of telematics systems for air transport. These projects, conducted in 1994 and 1995, laid the foundations for the RTD work in this field under the Telematics Applications programme of the Fourth Framework Programme. The report gives details of the fourteen projects carried out under the APAS action, which were part of the wider ECARDA initiative for a European Coherent Approach for RTD in Air Traffic Management. The fourteen projects covered the exploration and promotion of the use of telematics technologies to support communications, navigation and surveillance in the domain of air transport. In addition to the project summaries contained in the publication, a CD-ROM provides the full texts of the reports of each project.
