Within the field of research and technological development, there are several ways in which scientists from the Central and Eastern European countries (CEECs) and the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union (NIS) can obtain funding from the European Commission and other European Institutions. The European Commission (DG XII) has recently published a brochure which outlines some of the funding opportunities available. The brochure provides a brief introduction to: - The European Community's INCO-COPERNICUS programme for the promotion of S&T cooperation with the CEECs and the NIS; - The participation of CEECs and the NIS in the specific programmes of the Community's Fourth Framework Programme; - The International Association for the Promotion of Cooperation with Scientists from the NIS (INTAS); - The International Science and Technology Centre (ISTC).
