Objective
The project is a EUROPEAN SCIENCE FESTIVAL 2006, under the title WONDERS. It uses the strengths, experiences and capacities of existing major European networks and institutions in the field of science communication like science weeks, science festivals, science days (EUSCEA) together with European science journalists (EUSJA) and the European Schoolnet (EUN) to bring Europeans to greater awareness for science, technology & the humanities and to stimulate dialogues between science and society. Activities of WONDERS will last for the whole year 2007 in nearly all of Europe, mainly with the CAROUSEL OF SCIENCE, which is an inter-European exchange of the best science presentations between 30 participating organisations. Each participating organisation receive s and sends presentations and selects the best one - to be sent to the FINALS. During the whole year, pupils will come together with their teachers to work together in a special discussion game called DECIDE. Thereby they discuss in a structured manner important issues of science with the moderation of science journalists. WONDERS is launched and finalised at special events: A LAUNCH Event in Berlin, during the EU presidency of Germany in the 1st half of 2007, and a major FINALS Event with the best Activities of the CAROUSEL of Science, taking place in Lisbon, during the EU presidency of Portugal, end of 2007.WONDERS will motivate European science communicators to work together with the idea to continue this cooperation in coming years.
