Obiettivo The work will be carried out to achieve the following aims: 1. To enable the steel industry to better understand the influence of human behaviour on accident potential. 2. To validate the application in the steel industry of the coal industry's development of a means of assessing potential for human error, which can be related to the application of preventative action, especially in improvement to design, environmental conditions, training, work organisation, etc. 3. To develop a human error audit based on the principles of ergonomics, but capable of being used by non-ergonomists and to pilot its application in association with audits of physical hazards and attitudes to safety and health. Ways and Means to Achieve the Work The prototype human error audit developed for the coal industry and aimed at Risk Perception and Hazard Awareness (ECSC project no. 7249/12/067) will be used in conjunction with machine audits, interviews and risk perception/hazard awareness questionnaires, drawing on the results of earlier and current ECSC aided studies of attitudinal aspects of safety.
