Objective Design, build and test a pipeline inspection device (pig) based on new instrumental concepts; this "pig" will perform traditionnal internal inspection (gauging/calipering) and also gather all necessary "navigation" data to compute and draw:- the pipe path or trajectory- the critical mechanical constraints (free spans)providing a full geometrical survey of the pipelines.Detail engineering has defined both the mechanical construction ( scraper, body, chainage sensor arm and monitoring bracket, mechanical link between units) and the sensor instrumentation pack. Various tests on components have proven a gross precision better than 1 % of the distance travelled which can lead after computer procession to less than 5. 10-4.Tests on site have shown a very high degree of super imposition of recorded and as-laid drawings.PHASE 1This phase is a general design phase, including:- technical definition- environmental characterisation- system general architecture- specifications- drawingsPHASE 2- construction of the prototype- writing of all necessary computer programs- laboratory tests- environmental qualificationPHASE 3- field testing Programme(s) ENG-HYDROCARB 2C - Programme (EEC) of support for technological development in the hydrocarbons sector, 1986-1989 Topic(s) 1.10 - TRANSPORT Call for proposal Data not available Funding Scheme DEM - Demonstration contracts Coordinator CHALLENGER S.O.S.
