The Commission's Directorate-General for the Environment, Nuclear Safety and Civil Protection (DG XI) calls for expressions of interest for the preparation and follow-up of actions financed under the Community's new Financial Instrument for the Environment (LIFE). The tasks concern assistance in preparing actions, ensuring the interface between the Commission on the one hand and the competent authorities and those responsible for the projects on the other, as well as the monitoring of these actions. The number of personnel to be employed full-time, including technicians, secretaries, etc., is estimated as follows: - For the Benelux, Denmark, Germany and the third countries bordering on the Baltic Sea: 4 persons; - For Greece, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy and Portugal: 3 persons per task; - For the third countries of the Mediterranean region: 2 persons per task. The tasks will be given to independent individuals or legal entities, i.e. not having responsibility for the implementation of Community actions in the field of the environment and being in no way dependent upon a public authority or university.Supplementary information may be requested in writing or by fax from: Commission of the European Communities Directorate-General XI/C/2 Attn.
