The last call for proposals in the RACE programme (the specific research and technological development programme in the field of communications technologies, 1990-1994) closed on 3 September 1993. The call (published in Official Journal No C 149 of 29.6.1993) covered extensions to existing projects and opportunities for new activities in certain areas of communications research, with a projected budget of ECU 73 million. A total of 200 proposals were received in response to the call: 77 concerning extensions to existing projects and 123 new proposals. These projects involved 975 separate organizations from 22 countries in the EU and EFTA. Following the selection process, a list of accepted projects has been made available by RACE, and is included in the Text (TXT) field of this RTD-News item. The listing comprises the project reference number and title plus the name of the lead coordinator.
