The specific RTD programme in the field of biotechnology (Biotechnology Research for Innovation, Development and Growth in Europe, BRIDGE), covers the period 1990-1993 with a budget of ECU 100 million. Research activities in the programme are implemented by two kinds of projects: - N-projects: These have been extended from the BAP programme, and are implemented by European Laboratories Without Walls (ELWWs); - T-projects: Larger in scale, these have been initiated within BRIDGE. Following three calls for proposals in 1989 and 1990, a total of 69 N-projects and 7 T-projects were launched during 1990-1991. They encompass 579 participating organizations from 11 Member States and five EFTA countries. The present catalogue of contracts lists for each project a title, contract number, starting date and duration, the EEC financial contribution plus a summary of the technical objectives, as well as a brief project description and a number of keywords. An index of contact numbers is also included. More detailed information is provided by a series of individual brochures on each of the T-projects and on the ELWWs constructed around the N-projects.
