UPWARDS project’s scientific workshop
27 February 2018 - 28 February 2018
Madrid, Spain
This interdisciplinary workshop aims to revise our current understanding of Mars, from the surface to the upper atmosphere, on the eve of the Exomars TGO operational science phase. The workshop will summarise recent progress in a great variety of research topics, aiming at a global and synergistic vision of Mars, its processes and couplings.
Results from the UPWARDS consortium are due to be presented, including the delivery of this project's data products to the ESA Planetary Science Archive. Other topics on the agenda include:
- Interior-Surface-Atmosphere exchanges of thermal fluxes and trace species
- Martian surface' intrinsic reflectivity, spectral properties, topography effects
- Global water cycle (vapour & ice) and the role of water ice clouds
- Atmospheric dust, particles distribution & properties, dust storms and variability
- Photochemistry, atmospheric stability, trace species across the Terminator
- Upper atmosphere composition, wave propagation, airglow emissions, escape to space
- Delivering of Mars data products and modeling results to scientific archives
