From the beginning of the project until its conclusion in June 2025, the eUMaP consortium successfully carried out a wide range of research, development, training, and pilot activities across all nine work packages. The aim was to design, implement, and validate an integrated platform to support the management of building utilities during crisis conditions, combining digital tools such as BIM, GIS, IoT monitoring, and forecasting.
Key achievements by work package include:
WP1 – Project Management: Oversaw coordination, reporting, amendments, and quality assurance, ensuring smooth implementation across partners.
Deliverables: D1.1 D1.2 D1.3 D1.4 D1.5
WP2 – Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation: Delivered the website, social media outreach, publications, and stakeholder engagement. Strategic planning for post-project exploitation was supported through the Horizon Results Booster.
Deliverables: D2.1 D2.2
WP3 – Recording Crisis Features in Building Services: Documented building utility behaviour under crisis conditions using synthetic and real data. Helped define system requirements and informed the development of forecasting tools.
Deliverables: D3.1
WP4 – Spatial Planning of City Service Utilities: Created GIS-based tools using EO data to visualise utility networks and support emergency planning at city scale.
Deliverables: D4.1 D4.2 D4.3
WP5 – Integration of Digital Technology (BIM): Developed the technical framework for integrating BIM and real-time data. Delivered hardware specifications, interoperability protocols, and a data interface for smart monitoring.
Deliverables: D5.1 D5.2 D5.3
WP6 – Utility Management under Crisis Conditions: Defined risk scenarios and evaluation methods across four critical infrastructure types. These formed the foundation for the platform’s risk assessment tools.
Deliverables: D6.1
WP7 – Platform Development and Application: Delivered the integrated eUMaP platform, including Time Series Analyzer and AI Wizard tools. These were validated in pilot deployments across Rome, Thessaloniki, Kaunas, and Larnaca.
Deliverables: D7.1 D7.2 D7.3
WP8 – Transfer of Knowledge, Training and Networking: Implemented a full training programme through secondments, hybrid workshops, and open lectures. Capacity building focused on BIM, IoT, and platform integration.
Deliverables: D8.1
WP9 – Ethics Requirements: Ensured compliance with Horizon 2020 ethics standards for secondments and personal data handling.
Deliverables: D9.1
Project's Milestones:
-MS1 – Initial Dataset Compilation: D3.1
-MS2 – Integration of 3D Imagery into BIM: D4.1 D6.1 D7.1
-MS3 – Holistic Platform Available: D7.2 D7.3
-MS4 – Case Study Deployment Initiated: D7.3
-MS5 – Finalised Case Studies and Platform Design: D2.2 D7.3
All milestones were met within the amended timeline and reflect the consortium’s collaborative effort and alignment with revised project objectives.
In conclusion, the eUMaP project delivered on its core objectives by validating an innovative platform for utility management during crisis conditions. All deliverables were submitted, and all milestones met. The resulting system offers a flexible, scalable tool ready for adoption by city authorities, researchers, and utility operators, contributing to crisis resilience and long-term urban sustainability.
