Synergies for Policy alignment, INitiative Design and Implementation for Industrial DECarbonisation

Objective

The European Industrial Green deal, the P4Planet, Clean Steel Partnerships with SRIAs, the SET plan and the ERA industrial technology roadmaps have set out clear and ambitious pathways for decarbonising Europe’s Energy-Intensive Industries (EIIs). These initiatives underline the urgent need for coordinated policy, industrial investments and increased cross-country collaboration to achieve net-zero industrial emissions by 2050, while at the same time safeguarding a competitive Europe. Despite significant progress in the roadmap development, persistent challenges remain such as fragmented policy, insufficient cross-country coordination, limited mutual learnings on implementation practices, and a lack of shared monitoring tools to track progress and informed decision making.

SPINDEC, aims to continue, deepen and accelerate the uptake and operationalisation of these European strategies. Building directly on the recommendations and gaps identified in the 2023-2024 Mutual Learning Exercise on Industrial Decarbonisation, SET plan, SRIA of P4Planet/Clean steel and ERA action, the project will: i) Strengthen coordination and alignment among Member States (MS) and Associated Countries (AC), ii) Design and support implementation of decarbonisation roadmaps and initiatives, hereby fostering investment in new businesses, SMEs and scale-ups and favouring better access to technology infrastructures; iii) Foster knowledge exchange, mutual learning and community building on practical deployment challenges and solutions; and iv) Valorise and disseminate results. As such SPINDEC will ensure the strategic agendas translate into practical, impactful and measurable deployment of low-carbon solutions in EIIs, thereby directly contributing to Europe’s industrial transformation and competitive sustainability goals.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Net EU contribution

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
