Cross-KIC-SharedServices 2026-2028

Objective

The Cross-KIC activity objectives for 2026–2028 will focus on increasing collaboration, standardization, and operational efficiency
across the Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) of the EIT. Central to this is the development of the Centre of
Administrative Excellence (CAE) project, which harmonizes processes such as grant management, CFS audits, validation, shared IT
solutions and CLCs. By tailoring the services to the different maturity levels of KICs and fostering knowledge transfer the project will
enable greater alignment, operational streamlining, and focus on delivering innovation for Europe’s sustainable and resilient future.
The CAE is expected to improve efficiency through centralized services, wider adoption of shared tools, enhanced training programs,
and stronger inter-KIC collaboration. Joint activities at EIT Houses and CLCs will strengthen visibility while aligning with EU priorities
on sustainability, digitalization, and gender equality. The project directly supports the EIT Strategic Innovation Agenda by building
synergies, reducing fragmentation, and reinforcing KIC integration within the broader innovation ecosystem.
With a technology-enabled, centralized model, the CAE consolidates grant management, audits, cost controls, and IT infrastructure,
ensuring cost-effective operations and consistency in subgrantee engagement. This enhances governance, financial sustainability,
and attractiveness to future investment. By freeing resources for innovation and supporting the Knowledge Triangle integration of
education, research, and business, the CAE strengthens the ecosystem’s ability to address complex societal challenges such as climate
change, health, and digital transformation.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
