Objective
AEROMATICS develops next-generation aeroponic vertical farming systems combining additive manufacturing, advanced sensing, and artificial intelligence to enable sustainable, high-yield, and resource-efficient food production. The project demonstrates that 3D-printed modules, optimized through computational modelling and controlled by hybrid AI, can reduce water and nutrient use by up to 40% and 30% respectively while increasing productivity. Over 48 months, a European consortium of universities, research institutes, and SMEs will co-design recyclable aeroponic modules, integrate smart sensors for real-time monitoring, and validate predictive control systems in greenhouse trials across diverse climates. Life-cycle and cost analyses will quantify environmental and economic performance, supporting EU Green Deal and Farm-to-Fork goals. Through Marie Skłodowska-Curie Staff Exchanges, researchers will gain cross-sectoral expertise in AI, additive manufacturing, agronomy, and sustainability, strengthening long-term collaboration between academia and industry. AEROMATICS couples innovation with exploitation: validated prototypes, open sustainability metrics, and a joint exploitation committee will support commercialization, policy alignment, and standardization. The project will reinforce Europe’s leadership in sustainable agri-tech through climate-smart, circular, and data-driven vertical farming solutions.

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
