I AM BRIDGE: Innovating through Additive Manufacturing by Building Relations, and Increasing Dialogue for a Greener Europe

Objective

I AM BRIDGE aims to convert Additive Manufacturing (AM) into a coordinated, place-based, quadruple-helix strategy for sustainable competitiveness - the Eco-Innovation Framework in Additive Manufacturing (EIFAM) - serving as the foundation for a long-term joint action plan to enhance university–business cooperation and interregional collaboration. It links strong, moderate and emerging ecosystems to co-plan priorities, align funding, and produce common knowledge assets, so AM becomes a practical engine for resilience, skills and greener value chains across Trentino/IT, Tuzla Canton/BA, as well as other regions in Italy, Germany, Poland, and Lithuania. Within three to five years after EIFAM adoption, the partner territories function as a distributed, interoperable AM ecosystem. Each region operates a single-entry AM Access Point linked to a shared catalogue of facilities, mentors and design-for-AM services Concrete outcome by project end: an endorsed 3-year Joint Long-Term Action Plan (JLTAP) with a governance model, a funding-alignment blueprint, and formal commitments from regional authorities and ecosystem leaders, providing a credible, implementation-ready pathway for subsequent multi-fund execution and disciplined replication beyond the initial regions. The 12–18-month CSA format matches our two-phase approach (dialogue/mapping → design/finalisation). AM provides a clear thematic spine that advances circularity, digital transformation and advanced materials priorities. The project embeds gender and inclusion targets, ensures territorial coverage across multiple EU and Extra-EU regions, and sets out concrete synergy pathways to Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, Cohesion/ERDF, I3 and private co-investment. It also designs pilot schemes (no FSTP concepts in this proposal) to de-risk post-CSA uptake and supports replication through open, modular assets.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
