Objective
AgriTalentEX establishes a regional Centre of Excellence in sustainable agriculture, digital innovation, and research reform. Bringing together Widening partners, the project strengthens scientific excellence in climate-smart agriculture and soil health, while modernising institutions in line with the CoARA principles and the HR Excellence framework. By uniting these strands, AgriTalentEX delivers one of the first European excellence initiatives in agri-research that couples CoARA-aligned assessment, digitalization and HR development, whereas existing initiatives mainly focus on thematic agri-tech or sustainability without this systematic integration of research assessment reform, HR excellence and digital transformation. Focusing on Central and Eastern Europe, it spreads excellence to underrepresented regions, builds critical mass and positions these regions at the forefront of the ERA transition towards sustainability and competitiveness.
AgriTalentEX adopts a systemic approach in 6 areas:
-Through a pilot at the departmental level, the project will streamline HR and grant processes, integrating the principles of the European Charter & Code and training RMA specialists.
-Reforming research assessment by introducing a CoARA-compliant framework that promotes qualitative peer review and the recognition of diverse results—including datasets, software, and societal impact.
-Career development through training, mentoring, and mobility programmes that will strengthen early-stage research careers.
-Entrepreneurship and innovation by strengthening technology transfer offices and training researchers in business modelling, intellectual property management and scientific communication, with the goal of creating at least one spin-off.
-Creation of joint R&I agendas consistent with the Green Deal, Farm to Fork Strategy, and Horizon Europe missions.
-Achieving digital maturity by testing AI tools and launching an Agriculture Digital Repository for FAIR and OS data.
