Objective
AT-INSULATE is a project proposed by several European SMEs to contribute with a novel material that will to fulfil the thermal and acoustic requirements by the increasingly demanding national and international regulations on buildings, insuring better energy efficiency and indoor-quality environment. In addition, AT-INSULATE will be applicable as insulating material to the shipbuilding sector as secondary market, by offering enhanced and competitive properties: light and non-asbestos containing material, non-flammable and acoustic insulating properties at low-frequencies, which allow saving costs and health risks associated with ships ´maintenance, repairing and labour actions. The technological approach will consist in obtaining an enhanced foam formulation based in an inorganic material as non-fuel fossil dependent alternative that will reduce the associated cost and the negative impact on the environment, with out-standing insulating properties. It will assure also a better handling for installation due to its foamy nature, making easier its market introduction and applications, not only in new buildings construction but also for old buildings rehabilitation, which is expected to be a main driver for growth of the insulating materials market.
The aim of AT-INSULATE is to develop and validate a novel price-competitive and non-fuel fossil dependent insulating foam formulation with enhanced thermal and acoustic performance for applications on wall insulation, to attend the growing demand and comply with the mandatory European building legislations.
AT-INSULATE product shows a competitive price advantage position in comparison with the average price per square meter in the market. In the other hand, none of the products in the market offer the outperforming thermal, acoustic and mechanical performances of AT-INSULATE together with a cost-competitive price.
