Periodic Reporting for period 2 - SECONDO (a Security ECONomics service platform for smart security investments and cyber insurance pricing in the beyonD 2020 netwOrking era)

During the RP2 the secondees developed the following modules: a) BDCPM that is responsible to collect data from various sources and analyse them; b) ECM: that is responsible to calculate the cost of each possible cyberattack; c) GTM: that tis responsible to perform cybersecurity investments considering a limited budget; d) CRMM: that is responsible to monitor the SME’s cybersecurity status; e) the blockchain infrastructure together with smart contracts to handle all cyberinsurance operations; f) a cyber insurance premium calcualtion formula. At the end, the secondees integrated the aforementioned modules together with the modules delivered in the RP1 delivering the SECONDO platform as a whole. Also, they proved that each module can achieve its inner goals. Moreover, they assessed the SECONDO platform as a whole against a use-case scenario dedicated for an SME. The results were disseminated to potential stakeholders receiving feedback. Then, the active secondees analyzed the feedback and proceeded to platform refinements.
During the RP2 15 scientific publication in high-impact journals and conferences were published acknowledging the SECONDO project being available for free event by gold open access publication or via open access repositories.
Also, the SECONDO consortium organized 4 workshops, and the SECONDO’s results were disseminated in 17 global events and in 4 third websites.
Furthermore, videos were released, and dissemination material including posters, flyers and e-newsletters were released.

Progress beyond the State of the Art: In the context of the SECONDO project, the progress beyond the state of the art refers to advancements and innovations that surpass existing technologies, methodologies, practices in the field of cybersecurity risk management. This includes the development of novel tools, mythologies and environment for cybersecurity investment and cybers insurance. Some key examples are the development of the Cybersecurity ontology to minimize the information asymmetry in cyber-insurance, the SEAM that evaluate the user awareness against social engineering attacks, the Crawlers that craw the dark web and twitter to identify cybersecurity data, the implementation of smart contracts to handle the cyber-insurance operations and the human-centric approach to calculate the cybersecurity risk assessment.
Expected Results until the End of the Project: The expected results until the end of the SECONDO project was to deliver all deliverable on time (according to the latest amendment), achieve all milestones, deliver a working and validated SECONDO platform against a real-life scenario meeting the market's needs, publish the research findings in peer-reviewed journals, and conferences, disseminate the results in workshops and events across the world.
