High performing microgranulated Biopesticides for plants protection

Project description

Safer biopesticide for better plant protection

Pests represent a dangerous threat for plants, incurring up to 35 % yield losses and even diseases for consumers. However, existing pesticides are not environmentally friendly. They are also costly and present difficulties in management and transport. The EU-funded DISPERzero project proposes a new product line of fungicides and insecticides with a granule presentation that guarantees perfect and fast water dissolution. The product is created by the Spanish company Indalva, which is specialised in the formulation and packaging of agricultural nutrients and plant protection products. It is a zero-residues generator, easy to manage and safer for end users. DISPERzero can be applied in a wide range of plantation and agricultural industries.

Objective

Indalva S.L. is a Spanish company with more than 50 years’ experience offering turnkey solutions for the agricultural industry. Our major expertise is the formulation and packaging of agricultural nutrients and plant protection products as Water Soluble Granules (WSG) using fluid bed technology, (WSG-FB). The presence of pest in plants is a clear indicator of contamination, creating problems like yield losses or even diseases for consumers. Up to 35% of yield losses result from a pest problem so pest control become a crucial process for agricultural industry.
The objective of DISPERzero project is to launch Indalva´s new product lines (fungicides and insecticides) in the Biopesticide market (a €2440 million market with CAGR 2017-2025 of 14.1%), with the key characteristics of being in a granule presentation (0.25-1.18 mm size), natural-based, water soluble, zero residues generator, safer to end users, and environmentally friendly. The granule presentation will guarantee an excellent and quick water dissolution and will be easier and safer to handle by the end-users. DISPERzero will be a game changer, as most related products (powder or liquid pesticides) are not environmentally friendly and have elevated cost and difficulties for handling and transport.
DISPERzero products can be applied in a wide range of plantations and agricultural industries, with the highest quality crop demands, reaching high levels of efficiency. To assure fast market uptake of DISPERzero, we will count on our commercial distribution subsidiary companies, Eden Agro and Eden Modern. Additionally, Indalva has a line of products for care and nutrition of plants and will use the same distribution channels to reach national and international markets with DISPERzero products.
Upon completion of this project, Indalva will submit a Horizon 2020 SME-Phase II proposal to the industrialization and market launching of DISPERzero products.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
