Compact low emission vehicle for urban transport

Objective

Due to the negative impacts to the environment caused by the increasing mobility there is an urgent need for new vehicle concepts and environmental friendly technologies. Objective of this project is the development of a small vehicle for clean urban transport with smallest requirements on urban space (both in traffic and in parking) as well as low energy consumption and low exhaust and noise emissions. For the improvement of the usage of alternative energies for the propulsion of vehicles, the development of a new storage and refuelling technology is planed. This technology leads to the possibility of refuelling the vehicle at home. The safety of the new vehicle must be comparable with high-end micro cars. This includes the occupant safety as well as the pedestrian safety. At the same time the potential aggressiveness of the very stiff structure against current cars has to be avoided.
