Studsvik neutron research laboratory

Objective

Description:

NFL Studsvik is the Swedish centre for reactor based neutron scattering research in physics, chemistry and materials science. Under our IHP contract a total of105 days beam time is available per year, spread over six instruments: REST, Diffractometer for residual stress and texture measurements; NPD, High resolution powder diffractometer; SLAD, Disordered materials diffractometer (liquids, glasses, crystals); SXD, Single crystal diffractometer; TTOF, Thermal time of flight spectrometer; OSIRIS, Radioactive ion source. Details of the instruments are available via the NFL home page.

Application:

The NFL Large Scale Facility programme has a joint application procedure with the DR3 reactor at Ris National Laboratory in Denmark. Application forms are available via the NFL home page, by request to: EC-Access to Large Scale Facilities, Ris National Laboratory, DK-4000 Roskilde, Denmark or by E-mail to mcgreevy@studsvik.uu.se or mcmorrow@risoe.dk. Calls for proposals are issued every four months, the call being published in Neutron News. Deadlines for applications are April 1, August 1 and December 1. The chairman of the selection panel is Professor Jens-Als Nielsen (Copenhagen University).

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
