SOMATIC EMBRYOGENESIS IN CONIFERS (PICEA ABIES AS MODEL)

CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Exploitable results

The project provided better understanding of somatic embryogenesis in conifer in order to identify markers related to embryogenic competence, independently from the genotype. The results will contribute to increase the percentage of somatic embryogenesis induction. Molecular markers were studied at protein, gene expression and mitochondrial deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) level, and the results together with the study on the mtDNA rearrangement dynamics would lead to a better control of embryonal suspensor masses expression from recalcitrant tissues. Within a few years this knowledge will lead, first, to a diagnostic test predicting the ability of the tissues to differentiate somatic embryos and second, to the optimisation of culture conditions to induce somatic embryos from different tissues.
