Objective
DEMETRA' s objective is to produce software for toxicity prediction of pesticides and related compounds, for evaluation within the Dossier for pesticide registration. We will involve end-users from government and industry and ecotoxicologists to get a sound basis. Suitable data sets will be defined, with pesticides and their toxicity values in 5 organisms. We will calculate chemical descriptors of pesticides. We will develop many models using advanced computational tools, like multivariate analysis, neural networks, fuzzy logic, machine learning, genetic algorithms, etc. We will combine the most successful models within a hybrid system. This process will be done in parallel for the 5 endpoints. The so obtained 5 hybrid systems will be put on the web for free access. Further dissemination will be obtained within a workshop.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
