In the context of the third Framework Programme, the Commission makes a call for proposals for the specific programme of research and technology development in the field of biotechnology (BIOTECH, 1990-1994). Proposals for RTD projects and concerted actions are sought in accordance with the outline workprogramme: - (Area 1) Molecular approaches: Protein structure and function; gene structure; expression of genes. - (Area 2) Cellular and organism approaches: Cellular regeneration, reproduction and development of living organisms (animals, plants, in vitro developmental toxicology); metabolism of animals, plants and microbes (essential physiological traits); communication systems within living matter (human and veterinary vaccines, in-vitro immunotoxicology, in-vitro human immune responses, neurobiology). - (Area 3) Ecology and population biology: Ecological implications of biotechnology, conservation of genetic resources, rapid moleculargenetic screening methods, taxonomy, preservation and exploration of diversity. - Information infrastructure. Consortia of organizations eligible to participate are invited to submit proposals for the above areas and topics. All correspondence should be sent to the address given.
