Active GUrney on Main Rotor blades

Objective

"The project pertains to the wind tunnel testing of an innovative helicopter rotor with Active Gurney Flaps on the blades. The experiments will be carried out in a facility highly specialised for helicopter model testing. The effects of the flap on rotor performances will be assessed in different operating conditions of the rotor, including both hover and forward flight conditions. A particular feature of the experimental set up will be the Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) system. PIV will be used to carry out some flow field surveys over the blades in order to achieve a better physical insight into the flow behaviour. Moreover, an innovative technique, further developing some recent approaches purposed
in the literature, will be used to reconstruct the pressure distribution over the blade section on the base of proper PIV surveys."

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/euroscivoc.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
