A parameterization of use in future IPCC-class model analysis (M48) Analysis of the complementary models used across WP4 will be used to derive empirical relationships between the size of the 3 fluxes (active, gravitational and DOC) and fields commonly reproduced by global biogeochemical models (e.g. primary production, grazing, export, temperature, oxygen). These relationships can then be used to parameterise the role of the mesopelagic in retaining carbon in the ocean in such models.
